Showers are something most of us do every day. But have you ever really thought about showering?
For most of us, it’s just a morning or evening routine. But there are actually people who have studied shower habits and formulated interesting and surprising facts. Here are some of them.
The Average Shower
The amount of time people spend in the shower depends on the individual. It also could depend on the situation. When you are late for work or school, for example, your normal shower may be abbreviated. Or if you are stressed out or in a thoughtful mood, you may choose to spend a longer amount of time under the hot water stream.
The average shower lasts for around 13 minutes. It’s at a temperature of 99 degrees which is just about normal body temperature. And it is under a standard-sized, wall-mounted shower head, rather than an overhead rain shower head.
Battle of the Sexes
While they may not always admit it, men enjoy showering more than women. At least that’s the takeaway from the statistics which say men shower an average of 7 times per week, compared to 6.4 times for women.
The nation with the residents who shower most frequently is Mexico, where 90 percent of people shower daily. Australia comes in second with 70 percent of the population showering at least once per day, followed by the UK, the US, France, Germany, Russia, and China.
Showers and Technology
A surprising 75 percent of people in the US say they take their smartphones into the bathroom with them when they shower. Of these, about 45 percent said they use their phones to call people and 45 percent use them to keep up with their social media.
Finally, a study by the Hilton Hotel group found that 3 out of 5 people sing in the shower. Of these, country music was the most popular to sing in the shower, followed by rock, pop, classical, and alternative.
